Symptoms, Causes, and Treatment Methods<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Fungal diseases are infections that occur as a result of the proliferation of fungi in keratinized tissues such as skin, nails or hair.<sup><\/sup>The most common fungal infections today <strong>dermatophyte infections<\/strong> <sup><\/sup>These infections are called by different names depending on the region they are attached to and they exhibit varying appearances depending on their location.<sup><\/sup>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>For example, it may appear as red, scaly, itchy, and round plaques on the trunk and groin area, white, moist lesions between the toes, or water-filled blisters on the soles of the feet.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Types that present with dry, white rashes on the hands and soles of the feet can be confused with eczema.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<br>&nbsp;<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How are Fungal Diseases Transmitted?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Fungal diseases are highly contagious<sup><\/sup>Especially humid and warm environments cause fungal spores to survive for a long time.<sup><\/sup>Therefore, the disease is usually transmitted through the following routes:<sup><\/sup>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Common areas such as bathrooms, sauna, gym, swimming pool and locker room <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Shared shoes, slippers, mats, towels, combs, nail clippers, razors or clothing <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Transmission from domestic animals (especially cats, dogs, rabbits, cattle) to humans <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A weak immune system, diabetes, long-term antibiotic or cortisone use are important risk factors that increase susceptibility to fungal infections.<sup><\/sup>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<br>&nbsp;<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Types of Fungal Diseases<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The most common types of fungal infections are:<sup><\/sup>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol start=\"1\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li> <strong>Dermatophyte Infections<\/strong> Fungi that affect skin, hair or nails.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><em>Foot ringworm<\/em> ( <strong>foot fungus<\/strong> ): Itching between the toes appears as white moist plaques or rashes.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><em>Body moth<\/em> ( <strong>Body fungus<\/strong> ): It progresses with red, circular rashes on the trunk and groin area.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><em>Head lice<\/em> ( <strong>Scalp fungus<\/strong> ): It manifests itself with hair loss, dandruff and flaking.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><em>Nail fungus<\/em> ( <strong>Nail fungus<\/strong> ): It is characterized by thickening, yellowing and breaking of the nail.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li> <strong>Candidal Infections (<em>Candida<\/em>)<\/strong> : It causes infection especially in moist, closed and warm areas.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li> <strong>Until candidiasis:<\/strong>Red, moist, and peeling plaques form in areas such as the armpits, groin, and under the breasts.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li> <strong>Paronish:<\/strong>It progresses with swelling and pain around the nail.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li> <strong>Oropharyngeal candidiasis:<\/strong>It appears as white plaques (\u201cthrush\u201d) in the mouth.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li> <strong>Vulvovaginal candidiasis:<\/strong>In women, it causes itching, redness and discharge in the genital area.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li> <strong>Pityriasis Versicolor (Samyeli Fungus)<\/strong>: <em>Malassezia<\/em> It is a superficial infection caused by fungi. It causes light or dark colored spots on the chest, back, and shoulders.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<br>&nbsp;<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How are Fungal Diseases Diagnosed?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Diagnosis of fungal diseases is usually made through dermatological examination.<sup><\/sup>However, some auxiliary methods can be used for definitive diagnosis:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li> <strong>Wood's lamp examination:<\/strong>Reveals color changes caused by fungus.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li> <strong>Dermoscopes:<\/strong>It allows to examine the structure of the lesions in detail.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li> <strong>KOH review:<\/strong>A scraping taken from the edge of the lesion is evaluated under a microscope.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li> <strong>Fungal culture:<\/strong>If necessary, the type of fungus is determined in a laboratory environment.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<br>&nbsp;<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Treatment Methods for Fungal Diseases<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Treatment varies depending on the type, location and extent of infection.<sup><\/sup>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li> <strong>Local treatment:<\/strong>For mild infections, antifungal creams, sprays, shampoos or nail polishes are used.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li> <strong>Systemic therapy:<\/strong>Oral antifungal medications are preferred for infections that are widespread or involve the nail and scalp.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"> <strong>Things to consider during and after treatment<\/strong> <sup><\/sup>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The skin should not be left moist.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Tight and synthetic clothing should be avoided, and cotton underwear and socks should be preferred.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Personal items (towels, combs, shoes, slippers, etc.) should not be shared.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Personal hygiene should be taken into account in environments such as gyms and pools.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Fungal diseases are skin infections that can be completely controlled with the right treatment and hygiene measures.<sup><\/sup>With early diagnosis and appropriate treatment, the spread of infection can be prevented.<sup><\/sup>.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp; Mantar Hastal\u0131klar\u0131 Nedir?
